USA Powerlifting, established in 1981 as the American Drug Free Powerlifting Association, Inc, is the leading drug-tested powerlifting organization in the United States. USA Powerlifting is responsible for sanctioning local and regional events where powerlifters can compete in hopes of qualifying for the national level events. USA Powerlifting sanctions several National Championships in all age groups, giving athletes a chance to see how they fare against competitors across the country.

Powerlifting America is the recognized United States member federation affiliate to the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF). Competition day essentials
equipment check is mandatory

  • knee sleeves

    Check with your respective federation for approved knee sleeves.

  • power belt

    Check with your respective federation for approved power belts.

  • wrist wraps

    Check with the respective federation for approved wrist wraps. The thumb loop CANNOT be worn during competitions for safety issues.

  • singlet

    Check with the respective federation for approved singlets.

  • deadlift socks

    Deadlift socks must be worn at all times during the deadlift segment of the competition. The length of the socks must be above the knee joint.

  • competition T-Shirt

    A shirt is to be worn under your singlet at all times during competitions. However, depending on the federation you choose to compete in, you may be able to take off your under shirt for deadlifts.

  • SQUAT SHOES

    Check with the respective federation for approved footwear.

  • bench shoes

    Check with the respective federation for approved footwear.

  • deadlift shoes

    Check with the respective federation for approved footwear.

weigh-in checklist

  1. Equipment check at the tables with our administration team!

  2. If you’ve arrived early, please wait on the side while the administration team gather the final details!

  3. The administration team will call your name to weigh you in!

  4. The director will have a calibrated scale! There is no specific scale, as long as the scale is properly calibrated!

  5. You MUST weigh the same exact weight or less then the chosen weight class!

  6. If you did not make weight, during the first weigh-in then you will get a second opportunity to weigh-in again afterwards. Please check with your respective federation for the guidelines covering weigh-in!

  7. After you’ve made it, it is important to IMMEDIATELY hydrate yourself! That’s if you had to drop a large amount of water prior to weigh-ins!

  8. Refuel your body with nutritional food after you’ve weighed in!

  9. LOCK IN, IT’S COMPETITION DAY!
